The Chehalis Basin Strategy team hosted a photo contest in Spring 2016 with the theme, “My Place, the Chehalis.” This was an opportunity to experience the Chehalis Basin through the eyes of the people that live, work, and play in the basin. The photographs portray life in the Chehalis River Basin, and highlight the remarkable diversity of people, wildlife, communities, and habitats.
We received 80 entries into the contest! You can view the contest winners in the gallery below. Each of the winners reflected the theme of the contest, “My Place, the Chehalis.” The winning submissions were:
- Spring Rain, Best of Show
- Flood Plain,Winner – People and Community
- Clouds over Curtis Hill,Winner – Nature
- Fifteen additional Honorable Mentions
Two photo contest award exhibitions were held in the upper and lower basin to showcase the contest winners and provide more information on the Chehalis Basin Strategy. All 18 award recipients had their photographs professionally printed and foam-core mounted, and put on display at the events. The photos will be used in the programmatic EIS.
